Item description

Einsiedeln Shrine "My Little Dove" ?8.5x11" based on a Vintage Holy Card In this gentle little Swiss holy card, we have an encounter between some small soul and their mild Lord. The grand spires of the Church, both literally (the Benedictine Abbey at Einsiedeln) and figuratively are structures in the background of this holy and private moment. We love holy cards that depict the closeness and tenderness of our Lord. In this card, the moment is when Jesus is about to enter their heart. .The Abbey at Einsiedeln, finished in 1735, is a Marian Shrine that still receives over a million visitors a year. This card, like our Souvenir of Lourdes card, was likely a souvenir for pilgrims, to help them retain the special feeling of closeness to our Lord after they had returned home. We spent many hours cleaning and restoring this long out-of-copyright image. We have provided an English translation of the original German poem. There is a lot of rich and ambiguous symbolism in this card, but however the symbols are read, we find it a lovely, intimate picture of how ?deep calls unto deep.? We are all temples of the Holy Spirit, and our Lord says, ?Come unto me, and I will give you rest.? (Mathew 11:28)We think this is a lovely piece for a nook in a den or a bedroom, or by a door in a hallway. We like it in a modest wooden frame with a stain or organic color. All our prints are a standard size, so you should have lots of good choices at your local Hobby Lobby or online. If you would like us to frame it for you, please convo and we'll make special arrangements to get you something you like. 8.5 x 11 acid-free paper with archival ink. The print will last for generations when kept out of the direct sun. There is about an inch-and-a-third of white space around the picture. Cardboard backer. Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.IMPORTANT!!! The image is smaller than the paper. Standard size. Easy to find a ready-made frame at your local Hobby Lobby. If you're sending this as a gift and would like us to frame it for you, please convo and we'll make special arrangements for you.
