Item description

Antique Cabinet Card Photograph. Identified as Edward Wilde Smith, the son of Rev. Harry J. Johnston and Mary Edwina Smith Johnston. The caption states it was taken "on lawn of Mrs. Kinsey's home where we lived while parsonage was built." Based on information gleaned from another photo in the collection (sold separately) we believe the parsonage was being built in or near Northfield, Massachusetts.) Measures approximately 5.5 x 5.5 including mount. Condition: This is an original photograph, not a copy or reproduction. It is in very good condition. Comments: This photo came from a single estate of mostly interrelated New Jersey individuals (all sold individually) taken in Orange, Hackettstown, and Paterson which include: Rev. George W. Smith and his wife Mary P. Smith (parents of Mary Edwina Smith Johnston, Alice Wilde Smith, and Anabel Smith. Alice and Mary Edwina were known to have attended Centenary Collegiate Institute (CCI) circa 1897-98, a private liberal arts college in Hackettstown, New Jersey, founded by the Newark Methodist Episcopal Church.); Mary Edwinas husband Rev. Harry J. Johnston and their son Edward Wilde Johnston; Emma B. Wilde; Beatrice Wilde Bryant, her husband Luther P. Bryant, and their daughters Elizabeth Beatrice (photos taken in Northampton, MA); John Lees (brother of Mrs. Edward Wilde, aka Grandma Wilde. He resided in or near Leesburg, Florida with his wife Christie); Eleanor Smith, daughter of Peter Smith and niece of Rev. George W. Smith; Amy Johnston Currie, sister of Rev. Harry J. Johnston, and her husband Rev. Walter Thomas Currie, who were missionaries in Africa; Louisa Lilly Johnston and William Rowan Larry Johnston of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.
