Item description

AT THE EARTH'S CORE Edgar Rice Burroughs REPRODUCTION or FACSIMILE DUST JACKET FOR THE BOOK created at the John Anthony Miller Graphic Arts Studio Archival non-fading inks that will last one or more years This dust cover is a reproduction published in 1923 for the first Grosset Dunlap edition of this book. Artistically rendered in San Buenaventura, California at the John Anthony Miller studio of art, etching and engraving in conjunction with Phantom Bookshop, 2021. "John's unique artistry was evident as soon as I saw The Great Gatsby dust jacket. Having seen scores of facsimile jackets, John's work is in a completely different league. The rich tonal quality of the colors is breathtaking and the weight of the paper is carefully considered. He satisfied the needs of the most demanding client, even during a personally trying time. I look forward to doing continued business with him in the future and give him my highest recommendation." Ryan Dohm, Profiles in History. Note: This does not include the book, but what is offered is the reproduction or facsimile dust jacket only. The dust jacket is trimmed, enclosed in a removable Mylar jacket protector, and pre-fitted and formed for placement on your book. This jacket will protect and beautiful it for your lifetime. (Note please, that this jacket will also fit later Grosset Dunlap printings in red cloth. I can also adjust the size of my jackets to fit your book should it be of non-standard size or a different issue.) Each jacket is signed on the reverse of each jacket, in number two pencil, by the artist John Anthony Miller for additional collectability or stated on the jacket it is a facsimile. Statement by the artist, John Anthony Miller. award-winning artist. My work is known around the world, primarily for my detailed engraving and etching miniatures that have found their way in such places as the Queen's Doll House in England, Chicago Art Institute (replication of miniature art from the Thorne Rooms Collection) Chicago Science and Industry Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Clarke Humanities College and other notable collections. My eye for detail and color have carried over into my dust jacket work, while I do not all that many titles offered, I am told consistently my work is quite stand-alone. Notables who have admired, collected or purchased my jacket and/or art are many. To name a few: Ray Bradbury, George Clayton Johnson, William F. Nolan, Johnny Cash, Maurice Sendak, Louis L'Amour, Charles Edward Pogue, Phillip Riley, Danton Burroughs, Robert Bloch, and many fine major rare book sellers. These jackets are labor intensive and I consider them works of art, as do many others who have purchased my jacket art for the last twenty years. Originally I offered these for sale each restored by hand, before computer programs that could digitally restore defective dust covers. That was a true labor of love. The jacket I offer here was scanned and digitally restored in the accuracy and detail of the finished product reflecting the original. Each jacket is hand-printed by myself using the Giclee process using only the finest light fast inks and paper. My jackets will not fade in time and will last your lifetime. This jacket is hand-produced and labeled as a facsimile or reproduction dust jacket. I sell no more than 15-20 of these per year (if that) as they are labor-intensive. I am primarily an artist, and facsimile dust jackets are treated as artistic works made to the highest standards. The inks used are light-fast expensive archival pigments that will not fade over time and should last well over one hundred years. The paper is archival as well. My jackets are enclosed in a removable Mylar jacket protector. These are brought back to life as they looked when they were issued, but also my artistic interpretation will be that of an artist to make these colorful and will enhance as well as protect your book.
