Item description
This oval, clear glass piece features a central medallion with an image of Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom. The rim is often ornately beaded and typically includes the inscription "GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD".
Manufacturer and Era:
This pattern was produced by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company in Sandwich, Massachusetts, around 1870. Some variations, like the Minerva #17 pattern featuring the god Mars, were produced by Adams Co. around 1880.
Dimensions:
The Minerva bread plate generally measures approximately 13 inches (33 cm) long and 9 inches (22.9 cm) wide.
Material:
It is made of pressed glass, characteristic of the EAPG period.
