The artist: David Segel (1921-2005) American painter and sculptor, David Segel studied at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, Lynchburg College in Virginia, The Institute of Design in Chicago, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Segel then moved to Paris to work and teach, and began what would be a prolific career. His work has been shown in galleries from Paris, France, to Los Angeles, California, including the Whitney Museum in New York City. Segal also exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. Segel worked with a variety of mediums including, oils, bronze and wood sculptures, and dramatic sketches. Segal's work is represented in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum. His awards include the First Carnegie Prize and the Hallmark International Art Award.
