Item description

CZECHOSLOVAKIA, AIRBORNE SLEEVE INSIGNIA, CIRA 1960?s, OBSOLETE, VINTAGE This is a complete grouping of Czech Para Sleeve Patches. These are no longer being worn and are obsolete. The small bevo weave patch was worn from 1948-1959 on silk. Diversion Group: Black Background Tactical Recon Troops: Light Brown Background Special Anti-Tank Group: Red Background Special Strategic Recon: Green Background Airborne Brigade: Yellow Background Airborne School: Blue Background Czechoslovakia no longer exists. It was dissolved on December 31, 1992, and split into two new countries: the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Czech Republic is the official name of the country, but the shortened name "Czechia" is also officially recognized. The government of the Czech Republic has been encouraging people to use the name "Czechia" in more informal contexts, such as in tourism and sports. The name "Czechia" is derived from the Czech word "?esko," which means "Czech lands." It is a more concise and easy-to-remember name than "Czech Republic," and it is also more likely to be pronounced correctly by people who do not speak Czech. The name change has been met with mixed reactions. Some people believe that it is a good way to promote the country and make it more accessible to the international community. Others believe that the name "Czech Republic" is more dignified and should be retained. Ultimately, the decision of whether to use the name "Czechia" or "Czech Republic" is up to the individual. However, the government of the Czech Republic has made it clear that they prefer the name "Czechia."
