Comedy Giftpack (Box Set) DVD (2004) Mike Myers, Roach (DIR) cert 15 5 discs Title: Comedy Giftpack (Box Set) Leading Actor: Mike Myers Region: Region 2 Duration: 390 mins Format: DVD / Box Set Type: DVD No. of Discs: 5 disc(s) Studio / Publisher: TCFHE UK Release Date: 16 Aug 2004 Edition: Box Set Five-disc pack of comedy films. Mike Myers wrote and stars in 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery' (1997), a spoof of 1960s espionage films such as 'Matt Helm' and James Bond. It is 1967, and fashion photographer and spy Austin Powers (Myers) is on the verge of catching his arch-nemesis Dr Evil (also Myers) when the latter has himself cryogenically frozen. Powers follows suit, only to be revived thirty years later when Evil has emerged to threaten the world once more. Teamed with Vanessa Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley), the daughter of his original partner, Powers has to get over his culture shock in time to battle his old foe. 'There's Something About Mary' (1998) is a Farrelly brothers comedy featuring romantic obsession and unusual hair styling products. In 1985, high school senior Ted Stroehmann (Ben Stiller) gets a date with gorgeous classmate Mary Jenson (Cameron Diaz) after rescuing her mentally handicapped brother, Warren, from a bully. The date is ruined when Ted catches his penis in his fly zip and has to be rushed to hospital. Thirteen years on, Ted is still obsessed with Mary, and hires private detective Pat Healy (Matt Dillon) to find her. Healy tracks Mary and Warren to Miami, but falls in love with her himself and tells Ted that she is now an overweight mother of four. Undeterred, Ted makes his own way to Miami, but soon finds that he has plenty of competition for Mary's attentions. 'Dude, Where's My Car?' (2000) stars Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott as Jesse and Chester, two half-witted stoners who wake up one morning to find their car has gone missing and they cannot remember where they left it. The only clues are a matchbox cover from the Kitty Kat strip joint and a fridge full of munchies. They must now retrace their steps and soon both are in for the ride of their lives as they encounter alien chicks and killer ostriches whilst trying to score 'special treats' from their unhappy girlfriends. In 'Rat Race' (2001), John Cleese plays eccentric millionaire Donald Sinclair, who gathers together a bunch of diverse characters at his Las Vegas casino and tells them there is $2 million hidden in a train station locker in New Mexico, ready and waiting for the first person to claim it. The assembled crowd quickly set off after the prize, cheating, back-stabbing, using every conceivable means of transport, and each generally doing everything in their power to claim the money. The cast also features Rowan Atkinson as the narcoleptic Mr Pollini, Seth Green as con-artist Duane, and Cuba Gooding Jr as a football referee named Owen who travels with a busload of Lucille Ball lookalikes. 'Nine Months' (1995) stars Hugh Grant as Sam Faulkner, whose life is turned upside down when he is informed by his girlfriend Taylor (Julianne Moore) that he is to become a father. For the next nine months he is left to undergo the trials and tribulations of impending fatherhood. Things get worse for him when he meets an overbearing couple (Joan Cusack and Tom Arnold) and their unruly children - and receives conflicting advice from his bohemian artist friend.
