Publisher: City Standing Committee on Elections and Printing Brockton, MA U.S.A between 1924 1984 Brockton was the only city in Plymouth County, Massachusetts during the periods of these reports. The area was settled in the 1700s and incorporated as a town in 1821. By 1860, Brockton was known as a manufacturing center for shoes and leather goods. Brockton became a city on April 9, 1881. It is now the 6th largest city in the state. All but one of these reports were prepared under the direction of the City Clerk. The report titled ?Rules and Regulations Governing the Fire Department? (Fire) was attributed to the 1975 Fire Chief. 6 reports were issued during City Clerk Lyons? term, the other 2 were under City Clerk Sullivan?s term. One of the reports directed by City Clerk Sullivan was titled ?The City Charter? (Charter) dated 1950. All the rest were titled ?City Government of Brockton Massachusetts? (CG). The CG reports were required to be published by the Standing Committee for Elections and Printing to provide detailed information on election results and city department members and city operations.
