Shackman NY's - Cabinet of Toys, c.1950, Made in Japan
New York's famous purveyor of toys and curiosities, Shackman's, offered this Cabinet of Toys for sale in its shop starting in the 1950's - the decade this set was purchased by it original owner who'd kept it all those years until it was given to me.
This is a complete set of 20 die cast toy vehicles including locomotives, train cars, automobiles and trucks, and even one covered wagon with horse. Every since one of them is in perfect shape with no damage or missing parts or pieces. Each tiny drawer contains a a tiny toy! The box itself has stood the test of time, with each little drawer still in tact and without any rips, tears or stains. The outer box case is in great shape without much fading or wear - except one small nick where the print on a pea size portion of the box was sheared off some point, but the small, thin flap of paper is still hanging on for dear life!
Please see my photos to check the overall condition of this unique toy. And since it's difficult to show each tiny individual vehicle from each angle, I created a video of the vehicles parading in a circle on a rotating platform. The trains appear in the first half and the cars and other vehicles in the second half of this short video.
I know one can pop up at any time, but I've yet to find another complete Cabinet of Toys on the internet in this condition.
If you're a collector and love tiny things as much as I do, don't miss out on this set.
Please let me know if you have questions and feel free to make me a fair offer!
