Item description

Offered for your consideration is this very nice sterling silver souvenir spoon made by Tilden Thurber of Rhode Island. Marked sterling and the maker's name on the back of the handle. It is a souvenir from Chicago World's Fair that was open to the public in 1893 was also called the Chicago Colombian Exposition. The portrait of Columbus on the handle is a reproduction of the exceptionally fine mosaic presented by Venice to the city of Genoa. The ship on the back of the handle is Santa Maria, Columbus' flagship, flying to admiral's pennant. the design on the bowl represents the great discoverer sighting the shore of the New World, familiar to everyone by it's use upon our national bank notes. The design patented by William H. Thurber on 28 July 1891 (#20,971) and manufactured for the Tilden-Thurber Co. by the Howard Sterling Co., both of Providence RI. No mono. So many work and details. 5 3/4 inches long. 0.94 troy ounces total. 29.3 grams. Good condition with silver tarnish that I will leave the polishing work for the new owner. Shipping charge: Shipping included delivery confirmation and maybe insurance if final price over $50. Item over $250 includes signature confirmation. Combined Shipping: Additional item is no extra shipping or actual increment of shipping cost if heavy items are combined. Shipping time: I usually ship on Saturdays.
