Upcycled from found fabrics! The Original Mona Hat is made of gorgeous brown and black brocade fabric which my legendary and very classy Aunt Mona gave me (because I could never reason buying $40/yard fabric, that's crazy.) so the Original Mona Hats are made in very limited quantities. Mona has since left this fine world of ours, so she will live on in our hearts and our hats! The reversible side is black on black subtle pinstripes, also found fabric, I believe they were pants in their past life! You can wear this hat on whichever side you prefer and it has an additional detail which lets you choose how it's worn, you can fold the hat so you can see the underside of the fabric peeking out, or not. You decide. Ornament the hat with a brooch or a flower pin on one side and reap the compliments. I started making these hats because I get a compliment nearly every time I wear one. Many people comment that it reminds them of 1920s style :) This lovely hat measures 24 inches around. It does not have stretch. To avoid confusion, I'm not using hat sizes, only head sizes! Measure your head carefully around where you would want the base of the hat to fit. My head (the reluctant model in the photo) measures 22 inches, so as you can see in the photos, this still works for a smaller sized head, it is just a big slouchier.
