Cover looks great; a few creases near edges; light-scuffing and surface impressions (front/back); clear tape that has discolored near center-left on front and center-right on back; surface abrasion near top-left, radio station name written near right, discoloration with darker discoloration spots on front; tiny surface abrasions on back. Inner-sleeve is original (Atlantic ads); bottom seam partially split. Spine is partly readable with wear. Shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of some use and divots. Poster not included. (Top-left corner is cut.) Tracks: Skylark Drinking Again Breaking Up Somebody's Home Surabaya Johnny I Shall Be Released - Optimistic Voices Lullaby Of Broadway - In The Mood - Uptown Da Doo Run Run - Twisted Higher Higher (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) About The Record: Bette Midler, by the vocalist of the same name, peaked at no. 6 on Billboard 200 and produced one single: In The Mood. The album, produced by Arif Mardin and Barry Manilow, includes Midler's interpretations of Johnny Mercer and Hoagy Carmichael's Skylark, Berthold Brecht and Kurt Weill's Surabaya Johnny, Bob Dylan's I Shall Be Released and Glenn Miller's In the Mood as well as a Phil Spector medley. Bette Midler was later awarded a Gold Disc by the RIAA. "An earthy mix of blues, R B, and '40s boogie-woogie" is how Bill Carpenter describes Bette Midler. The album features superb production from her former piano player, Barry Manilow, and the man who would help craft 1979's disco effort, Thighs and Whispers, Arif Mardin. The result is a solid album, according to a reviewer on allmusic.com.
