Item description

This is a wood hamsa ornament from Israel. The ornament figures: The red string. 7 signs with a bless in English. The blessings are: prosperity, health, love, life, success, happiness, luck. Beautiful decors filled with decorative gem stones. Wearing or having a thin red string (as a type of talisman) is a custom associated with Judaism's Kabbalah in order to ward off misfortune brought about by an "evil eye" ("Ein Hara" in Hebrew). In Yiddish the red string is called a roite bindele. According to this tradition, by tying the string around his or her wrist, the wearer is protected from the destructive power of the Evil Eye, thus preventing disease, poverty, accidents or other misfortune from befalling the wearer. It is considered to have great powers of "good fortune" and grant added divine protection to those who wear it. The hamsa is a Kabbalistic symbol of protection from the evil eye. It brings positive energy, happiness, prosperity and health. The Hamsa's (meaning "five") includes five digits and symbolizes the Creator's protective hand. Carved from engraved Poplar wood and adorned with semi-precious stones, the Hamsa celebrates the beauty of natural materials while infusing each piece with unique character and charm. The ornament can be hanged on the wall or tied to a bed. Dimensions: 3" on 2 3/8" or 8cm on 6cm The ornament is gorgeous and thus it would make a lovely gift for a baby or kid.
