These stones are set into sturdy 4 prong baskets, linked together by balled pins, so there's no solder anywhere with the exception of the clasp -- a good strong design. We cast our own mountings and will never use flimsy "snap tight" stuff... This allows the most show of stone for the least expense in gold, still maintaining sturdy construction.
