Item description
This antique Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG) plate showcases the classic Bullseye and Fan (Thumbprint) pattern with a richly hued ruby-stained rim and a striking starburst medallion at the center. Measuring approximately 4.75 inches in diameter, it was likely used for dessert, butter, or sauces as part of a Victorian-era tableware set.
The clear pressed glass features bold circular thumbprints with a zigzag border separating the vibrant ruby stain from the central pattern.
Condition Note:
This piece has a few visible internal manufacturing flaws, including a straw mark or stress line near the rim and tiny enclosed bubbles or inclusions in the glass. These are not cracks or chips and are typical of 19th-century glass production. There is also some light residue or age-related wear in the recessed starburst center.
The piece retains excellent clarity and color, and these characteristics are expected and often valued for their authenticity by collectors.
Circa 1890?1905, attributed to U.S. Glass Company or a similar early American glasshouse.
