Item description
This one of a kind piece is just fabulous.. I purchased it at an estate years ago, at the time the estate sale people told me they thought it was Greek Orthodox, but that never made much sense to me due to the motifs and design. I don't know anything about this piece except what I've researched on my own.. I think this is Indian, maybe a prayer altar, pooja mandir, or perhaps it was once part of a larger piece. There are turbaned men, who I think hold swords? and birds, perhaps peacocks and busts of women on the upper corners.. It is all over carved with flowers and designs. The window shapes look like Islamic influenced Indian design. I don't know the wood type, but it is old, very dense and has a nice patina. It is in good antique condition, meaning I don't see any serious damage or flaws, just bumps and knocks, small nicks and dents in the wood.. It is not! new,, Please don't bid on this if you don't like old things!
This is a very heavy piece,, 35 pounds before packaging. it is approx 42.5 inches log, 30 inches tall and 5.75" deep.
There is a shelf or well behind the bottom facade and and a deeper shelf behind the top facade.
I didn't get a photo of the back, but it has wire for hanging. I can photograph the back if you would like,, I just couldn't move it by myself at the time of photographing it.
I've listed this as local pick up, but I will ship this via greyhound. I've had good experiences with greyhound so far,, and their prices can't be beat. I will package this very securely and carefully. Please be aware you may have to pick this up at a greyhound station,, you may want to check if there is one in your area. Local pick up would be even better!
I can take more photos, just ask!
