Welcome and thanks for visiting!
I am offering the Byzantine Maurice Tiberius (582 - 602 AD) Ć follis. Antioch Mint coin.
Obverse: Ć N MAUGI C N P AUT, Facing bust, crowned in consular robes, with mappa eagle-tipped scepter.
Reverse: Large m, + above, ANNO and X II at sides, G below, THEUP' in ex.
MAURICE TIBERIUS a successful general was selected by Tiberius II Constantine as his successor. Although he achieved a favorable peace in Persia and was able to stem the losses of territory in Italy and Africa, much of the Balkans was lost. Focas, a junior officer lead a military revolt against Maurice and was declared emperor in November 602. Maurice and his son and co-emperor Theodosius were captured and murdered.
