This listing is for the dolls, which serve as vessels for precious boy and girl German children. These are dolls I brought home because I thought they were lovely but had no idea of the history they held. I’ve found it is not unusual for people, particularly children, to attach themselves to items with which they can identify, and from which it brings them comfort. This precious duo are sister and brother, whose stories begin in bucolic Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Tragically, their idyllic lives and loving home came to an abrupt halt when WWII and the Nazi regime toppled families, left and right, including this darling pair. Both were taken from their home and family and, heartbreakingly, would never see either again. She was 8 when taken from her home. He was 9. They complemented and resembled each other so profoundly they could have been twins. In a way, to each other, they were as good as twins. They loved each other more than their other siblings. There was a connection that began from the moment she was born. They could have been twins based on their appearance, likes and dislikes, and personalities. Both were brilliant in mind and had hopes of becoming a doctor, and a nurse for her. Horrifically, both were among those who perished at the hands of the Nazis. They have been with me for many years, and when I saw this beautiful pair of German dolls, I knew how perfect they were for them. They seek and deserve a loving, compassionate companion in a very much wanted home. The vessels are one boy and one girl doll fashioned in German clothing. They are made of porcelain measuring approximately 16” in height and are in excellent condition. Or one may choose a direct bind instead of the dolls.
