Acer palmatum Red fan maple ?Acer palmatum, also called red fan maple is a frost-hard Japanese tree, approx. 3 - 5m high, much appreciated because of the delicate fern-like foliage, which turns dark purple in spring, dark green in summer and dark scarlet in autumn. Acer palmatum prefers fresh, moist soil and a sunny to half shady spot. Can be used as, container plant or bonsai. ?For sowing, use Jiffy peat wells, swell in water and place in a plastic pot. Spread some seeds on the peat pot and cover thinly with the sowing substrate (about 2 mm). Then put the plastic pot in a zip-lock bag - with a pot size of 6 cm we recommend a zip-lock bag of size 120 x 170 mm.
