Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Keep this leaflet. You may have to read it again. If you need further information or advice, ask your pharmacist. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. See section 4. If after 4 weeks you do not feel better or your condition worsens, you should seek medical attention. What is in this leaflet: 1. What Canesten cream is and what it is used for 2. What you need to know before you use Canessen Cream 3. How to use Canesten cream 4. Possible side effects 5. How to store Canesten cream 6. Contents of the pack and other information 1. What Canesten cream is and what it is used for Canesten cream is a medicinal product for the treatment of fungal diseases (mycoses) of the skin and mucous membrane caused by dermatophytes, yeast, mold and other organisms, and erythrasma. Clotrimazole, the active substance in Canesten cream, passes through infected areas of the skin and destroys the fungus. As a result, the fungus dies or their growth stops. In women for the treatment of fungal infections of the labia and bordering areas, and in men for the treatment of inflammation of the glans and foreskin penis caused by fungus (candidal vulvitis and candidal balanitis). If after 4 weeks you do not feel better or your condition worsens, you should seek medical attention. Do not use Cinnamon Cream • if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6); Warnings and precautions Consult a doctor if you experience any of the following complaints: fever (temperature 38C and above, abdominal pain, back pain, vaginal discharge, unpleasant odor, nausea, vaginal hemorrhage and/or shoulder pain). Cinnamon cream can reduce the effectiveness and is this the security of latex products, such as condoms and diaphragms, if used simultaneously. The effect is temporary and occurs only during treatment. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Canessen Cream. General indications: Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not swallow. Other medicines and Cinnamon cream You should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. Pregnancy and breast-feeding If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Pregnancy If you apply Canesten Cream according to the instructions below (see section 3) or as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist, a very small amount of the medicinal substance clotrimazole will be absorbed by the body; therefore, it is unlikely that a systemic effect (effect on other organs) will occur. Although there are a limited number of data in pregnant women, animal studies do not reveal direct or indirect harmful effects in terms of reproductive toxicity. Clotrimazole can be used during pregnancy, but only under the supervision of a doctor. Lactation There are no data on the excretion of clotrimazole in breast milk. Clotrimazole can be used during lactation. If used topically on the nipple area, wash the breast before feeding. Driving and using machines Canesten cream has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines. Canesten contains cetostearyl alcohol and 20 mg/g benzyl alcohol. Canesten cream contains cetostearyl alcohol, which can cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis). Benzyl alcohol can cause allergic reactions. Gasoline alcohol can cause mild local irritation. 3. How to Use Canessen Cream Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. For topical application. Cinnamon cream is applied 2 to H times a day, applying it in a thin layer and rubbed gently. Most often, a strip of 0.5 cm of cream is enough for a surface the size of a human palm. To ensure complete cure, depending on the indication, treatment with Canesten cream should be continued even if the symptoms have disappeared according to the duration of treatment, as indicated below. Duration of treatment: Dermatomycoses: 3 to 4 weeks Erythrasma: 2 to 4 weeks Pityriasis verzicolor: 1 to 3 weeks Candidal vulvitis and perch balanitis: 1 to 2 weeks Patients should tell their doctor if no improvement occurs after the fourth week of treatment. Towels, underwear and socks that are in contact with the affected skin areas should be changed daily. This will help you remove the infection and prevent it from being transmitted to other areas of the body or to others. If you use more Canessen cream than you should It is not known that Canesten cream has harmful effects when using a larger amount, there are no reports on this issue. If you forget to use Canesten cream Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose but continue treatment as prescribed. If you stop using Canesten cream To completely cure the infection and prevent relapse, you should not discontinue or interrupt your treatment earlier without consulting a doctor. If you interrupt treatment, complaints may recur because the fungal infection is probably not completely cured. Therefore, treatment should not be discontinued before the symptoms have disappeared, but continued (as recommended above). If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 4. Possible side effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Not known. In rare cases, skin hypersensitivity reactions may occur at the site being treated (e.g. blistering, contact dermatitis, pain, swelling, burning sensation, irritation at the application site, reaction at the application site, itching, flaking, rash or redness). Symptoms of an allergic reaction are: syncope, decreased blood pressure, shortness of breath, urticaria. In patients hypersensitive to cetostearyl alcohol, allergic reactions of the skin may occur. In this case, it is recommended to use instead of a cream a drug that does not contain cetostearyl alcohol (solution or spray). When applied to the genitals, the following side effects may be observed: flaking of the genitals, vaginal itching, rash, edema, vaginal erythema, vaginal discomfort, vaginal irritation, burning sensation, pain in the small pelvis, hemorrhage from the vagina. In very rare cases, gastrointestinal disorders may occur - abdominal pain, nausea.
