Korean Angelica has very fascinating characteristics that are quite eye-catching when in bloom in the garden. Onion-sized flowering buds open to large, dark, reddish-purple colored flowers. Decorative foliage. Lush, tropical-looking, reseeds in the garden for long term use. A striking architectural plant either alone or in small groups. Gold Medal prize winner at Plantarium in Boskoop, Holland in 1993.The first seeds were obtained from the United States National Arboretum. Plant facts: Hardiness: Hardy Longevity: Long-Lived Perennial Growing Condition: Woodland to Full Sun Season: Spring, Summer, Autumn Good For: Deer and Rabbit Resistant; Wildlife and Pollinator Friendly Flower: Deep Blood Red to Red-Purple Foliage: Dark Green; Ferny/Tropical Texture Germination: Depth: 1/16"; keep seeds cool and dry, such as in the refrigerator, until sowing. Germinate best when provided with light. Sprout Time: 21-60 days Starting Indoors: Sow indoors in pots 8 weeks before planting out. Keep at 35-40F for 2-3 weeks, then 60-70F. Alternatively, move trays outside for two to three weeks, then back inside for germination. If no germination after 4 weeks, chill again. Starting Outdoors: Direct sow in early spring or fall.
