Item description

This is a 2 piece lot of Vintage Hopi Polychrome Pottery by Garnet Pavatea "Flower Girl" (1915-1981) and Kate Seeni (??-??). Garnet Pavatea was a well known Hopi Potter who began creating pots around 1940. Little information is available about Kate Seeni, except a mention in a 1947 book which listed her as a Hopi potter. She is an elder relative of Ben Seeni who was noted for carving Kachinas. Both Pots are signed and have Oct. '66 Arizona on the bottoms. These pots may have been made as early as the 1940's since as far as I can tell both were active in the 1940's... The Garnet Pavatea Pot measures 4 1/2 inches tall 4 1/2 inches in diameter, the Kate Seeni Bowl measures 6 1/2 inches in diameter by 2 1/2 inches deep. There is some scuffs on each and some wear to the hand painted design, please see photos.
