INDULGE IN LOTUS BISCOFF COOKIES Experience the unique flavor and crunchy texture of Lotus Biscoff cookies imported from Europe. Since 1932, Lotus Biscoff has been Europe’s favorite cookie with coffee. Delectably crunchy, with a unique taste and refined flavor, Lotus Biscoff is perfect for taking the timeout that you deserve. Enjoyed by themselves or complemented with a cup of coffee, these European cookies are the same delightful treats that travelers fell in love with in-flight. From Europe’s cafés to America’s airplanes Our European treats first made their way to America as in-flight treats. Starting in the 1980s, Lotus Biscoff treats have been paired with mid-air morning coffee in flights throughout the United States. Frequent fliers took note of the unique taste and special magic of Lotus Biscoff and coffee, and today’s passengers continue to discover Lotus Biscoff on major domestic flights throughout the country. Just last year, more than 90 million Lotus Biscoff Cookies were sampled on domestic flights alone. It comes as no surprise that Lotus Biscoff is known as “The In-Flight Treat.” The “Speculoos” story Lotus Biscoff Cookies are a type of shortcrust biscuit known as “speculoos,” a Belgian specialty. Throughout Europe, these mid-day treats are known as Lotus Speculoos. Speculoos were traditionally made for special occasions, including weddings, births, and to celebrate St. Nicholas’ Feast on December 6. Belgium’s talented bakers would decorate their speculoos in elaborately carved patterns – what better way to learn? Back in 1932, Lotus Bakeries decided these cookies were too good to limit to special occasions. The original recipe, which remains unchanged, made the speculoos an instant favorite in Europe’s famous cafés. Speculoos continue to hold a lofty position in Belgian culture – every fifth cookie enjoyed in Belgium is a speculoos (Biscoff). What’s in Lotus Biscoff Cookies? The unique taste stems from the sugar’s caramelization during the baking process. And a hint of cinnamon and other spices add that special something.
