Rare ca.1970 Clown Portrait Painting Oil/Board No Frame Signed This Superb Oil Painting on Board, portraying a Clown, was made in the US ca.1975 by Artist Sylvia Wene Martin (Born 1930) . Splendid Tragic Smiling Figure with Lots of Detail Height 24" Width 18" . Signed Bottom Left : 'Martin 75 "Sylvia Wene, also known as Sylvia Wene Martin, is an American Artist and former bowler. Wene was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the first woman to bowl three sanctioned 300 games (on March 28, 1951, at the December 11, 1959, finals of the World Invitational Match Game Tournament-the first time a woman scored 300 in match game competition), and on January 8, 1960, qualifying for the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America All-State Tournament. Wene won the BPAA Individual Match Game Title in 1955 and 1960. She was named Woman Bowler of the Year by the Bowling Writers Association of America in those two years. She had the All-time High League Average of 206 from 1952 to 1955; 14 three-game "700" series (six in one year); and was a member of the All-America teams in 1955 and from 1959 to 1962. She was elected to the Women's International Bowling Congress Hall of Fame in 1966. She was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1979, and the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1988". Thanks so much for stopping by!
