1960 Real Photograph Vincent Smith MD. postcard Ft. Lauderdale FL QSL Card Ham Radio Oper K4DJY from This is one of our favorite photo postcards cards, because of the full size photo covering the entire front of the card, with only a small box in the bottom left corner for the return address information. We went on a "Find the hidden items" search in the photo, which is clearly a 1960's home (love the drapes!) , It also looks like this home is on a shoreline, or in a cove of some sort, looking out the sliding glass door, you can see the water, and the houses (which are "very" 50-60's) as well as the type of patio furniture you'd see in a Godfather movie. "Vincent Smith" (an MD) looks at easy and comfortable sitting at his small desk showing off his amateur radio equipment, which was probably just a corner in the bedroom or a guest room and looks a little cramped, (they didn't have man-spaces back then). The back side (address side) is pre-printed as a "Photo Postcard" although no printer or publishing company. The 3 cent Liberty coil postage stamp has a small smudge in the top right corner, but is not torn or damaged, Postmarked Aug 15 1960 FORT LAUDERDALE FLA. The handwritten message is interesting, although difficult to make out his handwriting (after all he is an MD)... something "1932" and mention of lots of NY people there, and that they came from Ohio around 1950. Great source of information which would be interesting for Smith family history or ancestry research of Vincent Smith MD and his family, although it is clear (by his age) that he "retired" to Ft, Lauderdale, and Whitey being only in his 40's at the time no where near retirement age. CONDITION: Overall the card is in fairly good condition, no pinholes bends or creases, although the back side left edge has some smudging and discoloration, probably got dirty in storage, and the corners do show some wear. The front photograph is clear and not obstructed by printing, although not "mint" condition is clean and clear enough to pick out all the little details.
