Original Vintage 1937 Signed Gelatin Silver Print Photo of Arturo Toscanini Conducting the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Concert Photographed by the Renowned photographer Tim Gidal Mounted on card Signed in the card Matting beneath the photo bottom right "T Gidal 37" - see photos - Bronislaw Huberman created The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra - then called The Palestine Orchestra - and he invited the greatest conductor of the time, Arturo Toscanini, to conduct the opening concert, performed in Tel Aviv on 26 December 1936, and it is documented that he, Toscanini, abandoned his renowned NBC Orchestra for several weeks to nurture the newly-created Orchestra - so this photo from 1937 showing Arturo Toscanini is of one of their very first performances - You can compare this photo to listed photos of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra from this era and you will see the same faces of the musicians as here! Even that door in the background is the same as in other photos of the Chamber where they performed!
