Item description

1932 Vintage QSL Card Amateur Radio Operator W3LU Postcard 1933 Canada Grain Exhibition and Conference The QSL Postcard is postmarked September 14, 1932 Philadelphia, PA advertising the "World's Grain Exhibition and Conference", to be held in Regina, Canada July 24 to August 5, 1933. Tan in color, lighter-weight postcard card stock. Measures 3 1/2 inches by just under 5 1/2 inches Printed in Canada, this postcard has a treasure-trove of historical information. The front side of the card is printed in red and features the Exhibition conference logo in the upper left corner, a lightning bolt through the center of the card leading off the word "Radio" There is a description printed in blue, detailing the "Specially constructed building - 150,000 square feet of floor space - One mile and a half of Educational Exhibits-50 companies represented! (Compared to today's huge electronics trade shows and conferences, this was really a huge event for its time). The handwritten message on the front, appears to be written in pencil, signed from "Barney Goldberg" The address side of the QSL Postcard features a rare 1 cent Washington postage stamp, (if you're a stamp collector, it might be of interest to you). Interesting to note that the postmark stamp included a message to "Address Your Mail to Street and Number". For those of us old enough to remember the days when all you had to do was to write the persons name and the town and state and the mail would find its way to that person. (Recently we had a "very important letter returned to sender - even with the zip+4 - even though we have lived at the same address for 30 years - because the street address was "one" number off... boy have times changed.) The left side edge of the address side of the card features the World's Grain Exhibition and Conference logo and decorative art scroll-work, "Postcard" and "To" printed in red. The slogan at the bottom of the card is timeless - " Show what you Grow and Share what you Know". (Growing up on a farm in the Midwest, this was pretty much what County Fairs "used to be" all about, before they got all commercialized and carny). CONDITION: For its age it is not too bad condition. Printing is not faded, is very clear and readable, although all four corners have pin holes, wear and some slight creasing at the corners and edges. The 1 cent Washington postage stamp is in fairly good condition, although the stamp printing runs through the bottom perforations. The Postmark stamp is clear and readable the cancel lines only slightly obscures minor portions of the left side of the postage stamp. ******* Hello there, thank you for stopping by to look at my items!.
