Jane, Joseph John, Their Book of Verses Ralph Bergengren illustrated by Maurice E. Day (Bambi illustrator for Walt Disney) Atlantic Monthly Press, 1918, first printing (no additional dates of printing shown, indicating a first issue by this publisher) 11-3/4 inches by 9-1/2 inches by 3/8 inches. 62 pages with six full page colour illustrations by Maurice Day, the famous Disney illustrator. Later book editions with these plates seem not to be as colourful. Fine book in paper covered boards, with only the slightest of edge wear from being taken out and put back into its original box. Rear board of the book has some light soil, as shown in the photo. The front cover of this book is nice and bright. VERY slight upper corner wear to book. The interior pages are without marks and are white, showing off the brilliant colour illustrations. Overall, this is a fine copy, especially for a children's book from 1918. The book are poems pertaining to vocations during World War I. Maurice Day is known for his work on Walt Disney's "Bambi" and the plates here show his influence. The original box this book came with is included. Overall it is in very good condition. A small blue ink stain is at the lower left on the pictorial cover (see photo, please). There is corner end wear, but this does not affect the integrity of the box. There is a closed tear to the upper lid edge of the box and the upper lower lid edge of the box. Again, this does not affect the strength of the box and could be repaired easily by a paper conservationist. #bambi #waltdisney
