Item description

The 1883-O One dollar is part of a series of Morgan silver dollar coins struck from 1878-1921. Struck in New Orleans and designated as a Business (MS) strike, this coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper from a mintage of 8,725,000 struck. Though this is not a rare date in the absolute sense, demand is strong for O-mint Morgan dollars. There's no exceptions here, with the 1883-O Morgan enjoying a steady stream of buyers for examples in all available grades. It is a common enough issue in the circulated grades and lower MS levels, though as with most O-mint Morgans the strike is not necessarily excellent on all examples, and thus these become tough in the Gem level, where strike intensity becomes a key grading factor. Remarkably, a tiny handful grade above MS67, and these are coveted among registry set collectors. PLs are scarce and DMPLs are even scarcer, with both proving extremely tough in the Gem levels.
