Item description

- You will get 150 Seeds of Caraway Culinary Herb Seeds. - Sunlight: Full Shade, Full Sun. - Life Cycle: Perennial. - Watering: Medium. - Caraway Culinary Herb Seeds. - Caraway seeds have been used since the beginning of time. It was once used to protect children from witches and is thought to inhibit fickleness. They are a staple of German cooking and used by many like an after-dinner mint. Caraway (Carum carvi) also known as meridian fennel, or Persian cumin, is a biennial plant in the family Apiaceae, native to western Asia, Europe and Northern Africa. The plant is similar in appearance to a carrot plant, with finely divided, feathery leaves with thread-like divisions, growing on 20-30 cm stems. The main flower stem is 40-60 cm tall, with small white or pink flowers in umbels. Caraway fruits (erroneously called seeds) are crescent-shaped achenes, around 2 mm long, with five pale ridges. Caraway is a favorite spicy herb for adding flavor to breads, salads, etc! - Caraway grows best in sandy or well drained soil and full sun. It does not transplant well, so direct sowing after the last spring frost is recommended. Plant the seeds 1/4" deep in rows 18" apart, later thinning the seedlings to 6-8" apart.
