The bark is an attractive reddish brown and peels off revealing smooth gray bark beneath. Green to yellow skinned Pear-shaped fruit follow the blossoms and when cut open the fruit is pink and so sweet that it is used in the making of jams. High in vitamin C. An easy to grow plant that is suitable as a tropical, flowering bonsai and container growing. Fun Facts: 1. Guava was naturalized in Florida as early as 1765 and the first commercial plantings weren't until 1912 2. Native to Tropical America and was introduced early to Guam by the Spanish 3. It then spread to the Philippines and beyond to Asia 4. Flowers and fruits all year 5. Can tolerate temperatures to 20 degrees F 6. The guava is an excellent source of vitamins C and A. 7.
