It is beautifully stunning with its striped leaves and brilliant colors. Malva assurgentiflora is included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants. Tree Mallow likes to live in full sun to partial shade where it can grow up to 10 feet tall in ideal conditions. Island Mallow attracts all kinds of birds, bees, and butterflies, including hummingbirds. Tree Mallow is a larval host plant for the West Coast Lady, Tropical Checkered-Skipper, Northern White-Skipper, Desert Checkered-Skipper and, Gray Hairstreak butterflies.
