Vintage original 8x10 in. U.S. deluxe double-weight photograph by James Woodbury (L.A.), matte finish, original paper snipe caption on verso, fine condition. The popular Silent Era leading man ROY STEWART is depicted in this portrait publicity photograph taken by the renowned Hollywood photographer James Woodbury of Los Angeles wearing a tuxedo and posing in front of a black backdrop. The Woodbury studio logo appears in the lower left portion of the image. Affixed to the verso is the original paper snipe caption which reads: ROY STEWART - Popular actor now appearing on the screen in "The Westerners" by Stewart Edward White; "The Beauty Market"; "The Sagebrusher" by Emerson Hough; "Just a Wife" by Eugene Walters; "Riders of the Dawn", based on Zane Grey's novel, "The Desert of Wheat"; "The Test" and "The U. P. Trail" by Zane Gray. He is playing the star role in a production now nearing completion at the Brunton Studios, Los Angeles, and founded on "The Money Changers" by Upton Sinclair. June, 1920. Also on the verso is an original rubber stamp in purple ink which reads: Compliments of - FRANCES ROBINSON - representing - ROY STEWART - Brunton Studios - Los Angeles, U.S.A. Printed on double-weight stock with a matte finish, this vintage original deluxe double-weight photograph is in fine condition with random signs of silvering on various portions of the image and several small surface scratches that are not obtrusive. Roy Stewart (October 17, 1883 โ€“ April 26, 1933) was an American actor of the Silent Era and appeared in 138 films between 1915 and 1933. He was born in San Diego, California and died in Los Angeles, California from a heart attack.
