Item description

Vintage original 9 x 12 in. softcover program from THE MASQUERS "REVEL" 1952, held at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, California on Wednesday, September 24, 1952. This year's "Revel" was a benefit for The Motion Picture Relief Fund which coincided with the commemoration the 200th Anniversary of the American Theatre (1752-1952). Consisting of 96 interior pages with a front cover designed by the acclaimed illustrator Henry Clive, this example is complete in fine+ condition as shown. The Masquers Club is a private social club for actors in Los Angeles, California. It was created in 1925 by actors from New York City who had left Broadway to act in motion pictures. It was similar to the Lambs Club in New York. The Club produced thirteen short subjects, the most famous of which, The Stolen Jools, featured seven Oscar-winning performers. Raymond Griffith died there in 1957. (source: Wikipedia).
