Item description
Vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the 1940's comedy/mystery, THE CORPSE CAME C.O.D., released in 1947 by Columbia Pictures and directed by Henry Levin. When a dead body turns up in the home of a famous actress, two reporters (George Brent, Joan Blondell), who also happen in be in love with one another, compete to get the real scoop.
As indicated in the lower right corner of the image area, this is scene card #7 from the set of 8 cards. The image features a humorous interior medium shot inside a closet of the two competing reporters, Joe Medford (George Brent) and Rosemary Durant (Joan Blondell) as he catches her trying to snoop, but she has fallen and can't get up! The color tints are rich and vibrant and the film's title is rendered over a lime green background. Printed for the film's original 1947 US theatrical release, this vintage original lobby card is unrestored and in good+ condition only with two vertical creases which are not visible from the front; approximately 8 thin vertical scuffs in the left side of the image; a 1.5 in. tear on the top border that goes into the upper background area; two pinholes in the top border; and light signs of wear on the corners and at a a few places on the borders. The color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
As an inside joke, there is a reference in the film to the name "Archie Leach," which was the real name of movie icon Cary Grant.
