STARGATE (dvd) Letterboxed, 2-sided flipper and similar items

Pre-viewed for quality and plays great as it should since it looks like new, no scratches. This is a promo copy flipper disc, the theatrical version is letterboxed so new TV owners will have to use your zoom mode. The movie is divided into two sides, first 1/2 on side A and the conclusion on side B. This makes for an unusually sharp picture that I noticed as the bit rate is evidently maxed out to fit on both sides. This was probably used as a demo to promote the 'new' dvd format as this disc is dated 1998. That is about the time the format first started up making this one of the oldest disc I have come across. Comes with a chapter stop insert and promo card for the special edition. In this epic sci-fi movie, a gate to another world is discovered in Egypt. It seems aliens were behind the building of the pyramids and they still live on a parallel desert planet with a large slave population living in a village and building more pyramids. James Spader is the Egyptologist who figures out how the huge circular stargate portal works and Kurt Russell is the quiet, suicidal military-man expedition leader. With Jaye Davidson ('Crying Game') as the stony-faced alien leader Ra, Alexis Cruz, John Diehl, and Viveca Lindfors as the scientist in the opening segments. The aliens speak a foreign tongue and are subtitled. The hit movie cost $70 million and was filmed in the Arizona desert.
