This special Limited Edition is fully restored with uncompressed THX surround sound which does sound better than it's digital counterpart, much like vinyl records do. Also the full screen aspect ratio is perfect for old tube televisions as the image will fill your square screen. Comes with 15 minutes of bonus programming and a special "Sleeping Beauty" commerative booklet. The classic fairy tale has been impressively rendered by the Walt Disney studios. By and large, the original story, about a beautiful princess put to sleep by an evil sorceress, remains intact. With music adapted from Tchaikovsky (it earned an Oscar) and such memorable characters as Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather (the three good fairies) and the evil witch Maleficent. Highlight: The final fiery confrontation between Maleficent and Prince Phillip. Strikingly designed, the film has been criticized by animation judges for its angularity, but the cartoon was attempting to capture the look of French medieval manuscripts.
