Item description
Box and cassette are in great shape except for some minor endentations on the cover edges. Pre-viewed for quality and played great except for a couple of quick rolling lines about mid-way. Out Of Print (OOP) and no longer being manufactured in any format.
In 1923 Virginia Woolf (Nicole Kidman) is recovering from a mental collapse while writing her novel "Mrs. Dalloway."
In 1951, a pregnant housewife (Julianne Moore) is planning a party for her husband, but she can't stop reading said novel by Virginia Woolf.
In modern times, 2001, Clarissa (Meryl Streep) eerily embodies Woolf's character Dalloway and is throwing a party for her famous author friend who is dying of aids. These last two stories are simultaneously linked to a third story, the work and life of Virginia Woolf, who's writing the novel mentioned.
All three are facing questions of fulfillment in their lives and examining whether it's worth living, and all have issues with their own sexuality and the current men in their lives. Parallel gestures and words from era to era wonderfully enhance the illusion the three are indeed one.
Many felt Cunningham's Pulitzer Prize winning novel would not translate well to the screen, but Hare's screenplay and Daldry's direction superbly present this quilt of tales.
