Laurent de Brunhoff has been writing and illustrating the Babar books since the 1940s; his father Jean originated the character in 1934. This is the author's first book to be published in the sumptuous size (but not Elephant Folio!) that so distinguished his father's original Babar stories. This copy is clean and without any writing or marking -- just some slight corner wear. It's almost like new, and rather uncommon in this edition.
