Vintage 56 inch String of Pearls Without and 10 similar items

This string of pearls is hand tied between each bead. I don't know if they broke in one spot and were not reattached, or if it had a clasp and it was broken off. Since it would be unusual for both sides of a clasp to break off I am inclined to believe that it cam apart in one spot and was never reattached. They could be worn tied like a sautoir, or they could be retied. These pearls have an expensive look to them although they are probably cultured. They are more of an off white than a bright white. The strand is very heavy which is probably due to the sheer number of pearls on the strand. It is about 56 inches long. It has been in a smoke free home.
