Treasure Chest Vol. 3 Issue: 13 / Year: 1948 Condition: VF/NM THE COVER OF THIS EXTREMELY RARE RELIGIOUS COMIC FINDS CHUCK WHITE RESCUING A YOUNGER BOY, in an exciting action scene. The great interior has superstar Chuck White in a tale of his own, plus Dr. Daniels, and also a chapter from Gulliver's Travels. Most important of all, though, are the religious features. These include a story about Lent, and also one about "Michelangelo Artist Of The Vatican." The double-page centerfold is "Prayer Before A Crucifix." An altogether remarkable and extremely rare comic. This rarity, by the way, is presumably due in part to the fact that, although it was possible to subscribe to TC, most Treasure Chests were distributed only by Catholic nuns in Catholic grade schools. Likewise, this comic's rarity must also be attributable in significant part to the fact that it, like every other TC published from v1 #1 until v3 #19, has a pulp cover (the first "slick cover" was released with TC v3 #20). Furthermore, the centerfold instructs the reader to cut the comic apart, which of course would also make this comic harder to find today. CONDITION: This is unquestionably one of the very best of the few surviving TC v3 #13s. It looks close to perfect, even though it is over sixty years old. We have counted all the pages, and it is complete. The activity pages have never been filled in. There is a barely visible (see scan) printer's chip off the bottom of the front cover's spine, a couple very tiny printer's-type tears (see top spine and about 1" below that). There is also a very neat name in light pencil on the top of the front cover. Since this comic still looks essentially perfect, with great off-white pages, we grade it VERY FINE/NEAR MINT. It is completely unrestored. SCANS: Because this is an important comic book, we are providing large scans so that everyone can see for themselves just how nice it is. This is a great book!
