Mike Conners as an unnamed police undercover agent who infiltrates organized crime to expose the leaders and their plots. His name changed with each episode in order to protect him. Originally, he was named Nick Stone but eventually, he was only occasionally called "Nick." He was unknown even to the police units he helped, requiring him to dodge bullets from both sides. Tightrope lasted only one season due to complaints of too much violence.
