The aged patina makes it hard to determine, but the weight and thickness of this piece feels more like bronze. However, the pin and the edging on the back show a slight copper/gold color through the aged patina. This brooch has a circular pin back in working order. It measures approximately 1-7/8 inches diameter and weighs 35 grams. If you participate in any form of historical reenactments in ancient and medieval history, this would make a great accessory item for your costume.
