Item description
This is a really unique, fun, dainty, artist created Tea Pot! A very rare one at that. This is your chance to get a true museum piece, perfect for dinner parties and conversations!
This listing is for what you see. The original tea pot, and box. The warmer ring and warmer stand was sold separately, I believe, but not for sure.
As written on the box by Michael Graves. . . ."This teapot is a transparent glass vessel designed to hold a clear beverage, like a marvelous glass carafe in which I remember being served hot Sake, years ago in Japan. In keeping with the lightness of the material, the character of the spout and legs of the pot give it a joyful feeling - a delicate sense of humor that is also expressed in the wishing-well mechanism that lowers and raises the tea ball in and out of the water. The egg-shaped handle and knob are comfortable to the touch, which is perhaps why, wanting to make this teapot part of the family, we've called it "NANNA".
The Nanna teapot was designed for and produced by Glaskoch Leonardo in Germany between 1996 and 2000. The infuser can be cranked up out of the water after the desired strength of the tea is achieved. The teapot itself is hand-blown boro-silicate glass. The Nanna teapot is in the collection of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, among other design collections.
Michael Graves is a well known and great contributor to the post modernistic age and has designed/created everything from everyday objects to massive architectural masterpieces.
