Item description
Perfect for cabinet woodwork or restoration project. Complete and ready to install in your custom cabinet. Once warmed, radio plays and sounds great on both bands and no hum. The CR-226D is a 9-tube AM/FM general-purpose OEM radio chassis with two mono inputs and flywheel tuning. Includes 12" field coil loudspeaker, AM loop, FM dipole, original knobs and front facia. Radio serviced to support "first fire" test replacing cord, lamp, wax capacitors, deoxing of controls. Well designed.
TEST NOTE: When cold, AM radio "beats" and may be due to a weak 6BE6 which in our experience often the cause. Good sensitivity and selectivity. Loudspeaker cone has two pinholes and MUST be connected, or unit won't power on. Reference Rider's, Vol. 21, 1950.
Designed and built by Commercial Wireless, forerunner of Magnavox. "D" is the revision for FM band change (1945). Study photographs carefully.
Approx. chassis dimensions: 12" x 9" x 7".
