Item description
Excellent condition vintage privately printed Christmas card songbook. Includes an inscription ". . . for the customers and friends of Valley Gold Dairies" and bears the handwritten name, Hans Vogel. The card dates to between 1932 and 1979 when Valley Gold became defunct. Illustrations are typical of ad art from the 30s to early 60s. Includes the carols O Little Town of Bethlehem, Silent Night, The First Noel, Joy to the World!, We Three Kings of Orient Are, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear, Away in a Manger and Adeste Fidelis.
Backstory: San Juan County Historical Society writes that the dairy was originally founded in 1906 in El Paso, Texas by Mark and Mary Price. In 1932, the Prices' sons acquired two dairies in Albuquerque, NM and re-named the operation to Valley Gold. Ray Campbell, the manager of Valley Gold in Albuquerque, left in 1938 to launch Creamland Dairies. Borden's acquired Valley Gold operations in 1979 and the brand discontinued.
