Item description
Seeds pack Medinilla Magnifica Showy Medinilla Perennial Shrub Rose Grape Flowering Plants
? Seed Preparation and Soil Mix
Soak the seeds in warm water (about 30C / 86F) for 12–24 hours to help soften the seed coat and encourage germination.
Prepare a well-draining, rich potting mix, such as:
1 part cocopeat or peat moss
1 part perlite or fine sand
1 part compost or humus-rich soil
? Good drainage is essential, as Medinilla dislikes soggy soil.
? Sowing the Seeds
Sprinkle the seeds on top of the soil — don’t bury them too deep. Lightly press them down to ensure contact with the surface.
Mist the soil gently to moisten it — avoid overwatering.
Cover the pot or tray with clear plastic or place it in a propagator to maintain humidity (mini greenhouse effect).
Place in a bright, warm location (ideally 77–82F / 25–28C) but out of direct sunlight.
? Germination and Early Care
Seeds usually germinate in 3–8 weeks, but sometimes it may take longer depending on conditions.
Keep the medium consistently moist but not soggy. Use a fine mist spray every few days as needed.
Once 2–3 true leaves appear, transplant the seedlings into individual small pots.
? Ongoing Care
Use a pot with drainage holes.
Place the plant in bright, indirect light, like near an east- or west-facing window.
Water when the topsoil feels slightly dry — avoid waterlogged conditions.
Feed lightly with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season.
? Extra Tips
Medinilla prefers high humidity (60–80%). Mist the leaves occasionally or place the pot on a tray of moist pebbles.
Keep it away from cold drafts or sudden temperature changes.
Be patient — it may take 2–3 years for the plant to mature and start blooming from seed.
