Antique Cheltenham Victorian Silverplate and 50 similar items

This is an antique Cheltenham and Company Ltd reticulated, silver plate over copper tray. Cheltenham was a renowned silver plate manufacturer in Sheffield, England. I believe this is a Victorian period tray. Victorian silver plate is known for its heavy plating and beautiful designs. Generally, every sterling silver piece had a silver plate sibling. The tray has undulating curving walls with a pierced gallery. It sits on 4 bun feet. The inside bottom of the tray has a mirror finish with an etched unicorn symbol in the center. The unicorn is Cheltenham's mark. The tray is approximately 11 1/2" long x 7 1/2" wide. The pierced gallery is approximately 1" tall. The bun feet are approximately 1/4" tall. The underside is well marked "Cheltenham and Company Ltd. Made in England Silver on Copper 07000". This mark has a unicorn on each side. The number 07000 is the model number. The tray's pierced gallery has a very detailed design. The top and bottom edges have scrollwork and a wave design. The center band has overlapping half-circles and a tree or leaf pattern. I gave this tray a hand polish and saw no breaks, chips, or dents . There are superficial rub and use marks and a few light scratches. I am downsizing and am selling most everything. Non-smoking household. This tray can be used most anywhere and for many purposes ---- vanity tray, barware, serving drinks or hors d'oeuvres or just as an accent for its beauty. I purchased this tray in 1992 from Armand Roman of Sutton Mews Antiques in New York City. One similar tray recently sold on this site for $ 187.46. Shipping includes insurance.
