Rosenthal Gala Blue Classic Rose Tureen and 50 similar items

This is a tureen with lid and metal stand by Rosenthal in the Gala Blue Classic Rose pattern. The porcelain tureen or bowl has a notch for a ladle or other serving piece. The shape of this pattern is Form 2000. It can also be used as a covered vegetable bowl. The tureen bowl measures approximately 8 3/4" x 3 1/4". The lid measures approximately 9 1/2" across and is slightly domed. The lid has a white body with a 1/4" blue luster band bordered by gold bands running along the edge. The band's total width is almost 1/2". The tureen bowl is all white and the underside of the tureen bowl is marked Classic Rose Rosenthal Group Germany Form 2000. The stand is metal and is marked on the underside Classic Rose Rosenthal Group Germany Form 2000. The stand is approximately 12" across to the outside of the handles. It measures approximately 3 3/4" tall at the tallest point. The base sits approximately 1" off the ground. The metal circle on which the porcelain tureen bowl sits is approximately 5 5/8" across and has a lip to hold the tureen bowl. This pattern was purchased sometime in the 1960s and 1970s. We rarely used any of this pattern and I am not sure this tureen was ever used. It has been stored away in a quilted china pouch for decades. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, stains, or gold loss. I could see no utensil marks. The metal base has no scratches. There are some rub marks on the metal base where the tureen bowl sits in the base. This pattern was designed for Rosenthal by Raymond Loewy, the great Mid-Century Modern industrial designer. He designed the iconic glass coke bottle of the 1950s, among many other things. I am now downsizing and will be selling many items in this pattern. Non-smoking household.
