Item description
With a career that spans more than six decades as one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century, Bob Dylan is one of the most iconic figures in American popular culture and has defined generations with his lyrics and music. Born Robert Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota, Dylan is often regarded as the greatest songwriter of all time, and his influence cannot be underestimated. Pictured here in 1965, the same year as the release of "Like a Rolling Stone," Dylan's career had already taken off, and the single would go on to redefine creative boundaries in popular music with an expansive length of six minutes that was an immediate hit around the world.
Dylan's career has evolved many times and is often referenced by periods defined by his choice of instrumentations, and he received backlash over his choice to play electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival from purists that preferred his acoustic performances. This would go on to mark a watershed moment for the musical genre that had become one of the defining styles of the 1950s and 60s primarily because of Dylan's early albums. Dylan has also expressed himself creatively by releasing nine books of drawings and paintings and holding exhibitions at respected art galleries around the globe.
Dylan was politically active in his early career and performed with Joan Baez at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963. 1965 marked a turning point in Dylan's career with his first electric album Bringing it all Back Home.
